Leg day

Leg day is my absolute favorite. My goal is to be able to deadlift 1000 pounds. I push myself every time so that I can get closer to that goal. On the leg press machine and squat machine I am up to 720 doing 3 sets of 5 repetitions. I am about half way to my goal lifting free weights.

Motivation and determination is the key. It also helps to have a goal set, as a frame of reference.

Strive to meet your goals every day and check back with us for a daily dose of motivation!

Living a healthy lifestyle

Living a healthy lifestyle is more than just working out. It consists of eating healthy, working out your body as well as better proper rest and recovery. We will eventually go over all of these in greater detail, but let's get a general idea of all these parts.
Eating healthy is not only the hardest but the most important of all the aspects of living a healthy life. You should be eating 5-7 healthy sized meals a day, while getting a healthy mixture or fats, proteins, and well as carbs. Eating healthy is a choice you have to commit yourself to. One thing that really helped me out is an app called "Calorie Count". It helps you look at your diet and analyze your choices. It is a great way to get you nutrition in check.
Working out is the easiest of these steps. You are only working out for 1 to 2 hours at the most a day. That leaves 22-23 hours a day you are not in the gym. There are many different ways to work out, including weights, yoga, aerobics, and the lists go on and on. Commit yourselves to hitting 4-5 good intense workouts a week for 1-2 hours. This is a simple step in your journey to a healthy lifestyle.
The last stage of your healthy lifestyle is rest and recovery. You've now worked out and put in the healthy food your body needs to stay healthy. Now what? The rest of your day is dedicated to getting proper rest and recovery. Everyday you should get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep. This is really when your body makes it changes for the better. Get amble rest and fill your body with water and the right nutrition. This will help your journey on the way to a healthy lifestyle.

Stay motivated and keep up the good work! Stay tuned for more fitness tips and motivation!

The Benefit of Cardio

Artwork by Ty Beagle

When it comes to strength, biceps, triceps, etc. aren't the only thing that need to be worked out. There is a muscle that we can often times forget about—our heart. Our heart is key when it comes to endurance. The stronger it is, the more efficient it is at getting oxygen to our lungs, enabling our bodies to go harder, longer.

Cardio is very important. It also is a great way to burn fat. The interesting thing though, is that you don't necessarily have to run to lose fat. In fact, if you run, it can be harder, because at those heart rates, all of the good energy is being burned, rather than the fat you walk to lose. If you walk on the treadmill or wherever, it is actually just as good for you, if not better. You get your heart rate in the right zone for burning fat, without feeling overwhelmed.

I (Ty) walk on the treadmill for at least 15 minutes every time I go to the gym. It is a great way to get the blood flowing, and burn some fat in the process, and keep it down. If I want something more intense, I have other options, but I prefer doing that for a pre-lifting workout. It feels great, and leaves me feeling refreshed.

Keep it up!

Get to Know Us... Tyler

My name is Tyler Beagle. I am a 20 year old media arts major. My emphasis is leaning more toward graphic design. Art is one of my passions, and I also love working out. I intend to own a gym with Jon someday, and be the head of the design work that goes on. I'm not the slimmest guy in the world, but I make up for it with strength. My ultimate goal is to get more toned and just stronger overall.

I love lifting heavy things, which is why my friends call me a beast.
